a graphics tablet is a drawing tablet where you control the mouse using a stylus (a plastic pen), meaning in graphics programs such as adobe photoshop and adobe illustrator, you can draw using the mouse cursor and graphics tablet.

so you’re stoned as a kite, looking for something to do, hopefully not looking for work, lol, but you have a Facebook with friends and they all need something to talk about, do you really want a graphics tablet and is it worth it?

lets look at some variables, you’ll need a graphic editing program such as photoshop or illustrator, there are programs for 3d sculpting that are free (blender is the name of the 3d program), there’s 2d animation software that’s free (but buggy), and there’s paid alternatives but they could cost thousands, or you can pick it up off the black market but that may take time and more effort into making a program, and yeah, most have 30 day trials you can check them out before downloading something

but when everything’s setup, with the whisk of your hand, you can draw circles, curves, angles, polygons, all in classical animation. and the opentoonz open source animation program, which comes with a steep learning curve. opentoonz however allows theatrical quality, at least on 1980s terms, film animation to be made using its software, which is another topic I guess

so yeah, you can twiddle with brushes, textures, lines, cartoons, you can even buy books that help you draw

one reason not to get into drawing and animation that people really don’t appreciate it, you may work for hours on an animation or photo, and no one might really care, except for family and friends, but if its your goal drawing for or with your friends while stoned, maybe even on a graphics tablet, it honestly sounds like a good time, you know, get stoned with your friends and make a cartoon or something, it works at an even greater capacity with families

so yeah, get into art with your free time, on one hand it may sound like a dream come true, its cool to share with people, but don’t rely on it for income unless you get a degree from a vocational school
